Trumpers v. Art of Shaving cream
So has anybody tried both of these and have a preference?

AOS Sandalwood is one of my favorite creams. Trumper Sandalwood was good, AOS in my opinion blows it out of the water. The scent, the cushion, ease of generating lather........all categories. It was reviewed here and got good reviews if I remember correctly. YMMV.

salazch,
I prefer the AOS creams; they were much better performing for me than the Trumpers creams I have tried.
But as with a lot of things in shaving, personal preference rules
Have fun !
Best regards

Another +1 for Trumpers here. I love their soaps and creams; Easy to lather, great scents and superlative cushion and glide.
I'd rate their sandalwood cream up with CF to be honest, its that good. And their soaps are up there with MWF and Tabac in terms of performance.

I have never tried AOS cream, but Trumpers is very nice, easy to lather and easy to get buckets of suds. Try coconut you will love it.

You may notice throughout this thread that personal preferences will influence the responses, this is expected and natural. It is nearly impossible not to let them come out. Sometimes people respond in these threads recommending a product because it has worked for them, and sometimes without having tried all the options, also natural. Others may recommend products based on what they have read from others. The point that I am trying to make is that it is often hard to see how much factors like these are influencing the posts.
I have tried both and they sure work and work well. I prefer Trumper's because I believe that the quality of the lather is superior. I also like Trumper's scents. Recently I tried Trumper GFT which is a very good product that compares very well to Truefitt & Hill, etc. The Art of Shaving (AOS), on the other hand, produces great lather but it has always made my face red. I do blame AOS for this since many people use AOS products without problems and also because half of the products in the market have the same effect on my face. I would AOS cream gives a tad less cushion and less glide as well.
One thing I like about AOS is that they have had a positive impact in our hobby by setting stores in many states in the US. I like that because I know that I can drive to one of their stores and buy a replacement strop, a good brush or a very reputable razor on the spot; that to me, is priceless. People often complaint about AOS because of the prices of their products and the lack of training of the staff, definitely true, at least in the second point. Nevertheless, P&G bought Gillette (I believe in 2005) and then in turn bought AOS (in 2009), which indicates that they see a surge in traditional wetshaving and a good business opportunity. Always look at the bright side of things . Definitely let us know what you decided.

Thanked: 158Alraz is dead on. With that said I prefer AOS over Trumper. If you have a Nordstrom's nearby they usually carry AOS, and they are usually very generous about handing out samples. GFT will ship a sample pack to you for a minimal cost ($5-7, I think). Check on their site. It will give you a chance to experiment with both without dropping a lot of cash. Samples are always fun to try out!

I've been using the AOS shave cream for several years and just tried the Trumpers.
I use the unscented in AOS and use it to face lather. I find the Trumpers takes a bit more effort to face lather and have not found it unscented (or I missed it).
They are both very nice to shave with and the wife enjoys the Lavendar scent in the Trumpers.
