Thanks for your note. I could not pull up the link.

I have noticed lately I am using creams more and more. My current rotation creams are Castle Forebes, Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, Trumper's rose, D.H. Harris' lavender, Institute Karite, Edwin Jagger aloe and Truefitt & Hill's Ultimate Comfort (unscented).

Going in the creams will be Nancy Boy and Pre de Provence. I have several Arkos, but I use them for mixing with soaps.

The soaps L'Occiane, Cyril Salter, Truefitt & Hill and a couple others I can't recall right now will go also.

The soaps I probably will continue to use are Provence Sante Verlaine, Institute Karite, Mama Bear, Edwin Jagger Aloe and SRD unscented.

I tried my first cream (TOBS), and liked it. Long term, I see myself sticking primarily w/ soaps, so anytime an experienced guy has something to say about what a good soap is - I listen. I appreciate your sharing what you've found to work.

i have yet to try a cream that didn't lather wonderfully for me.. my first shaving product was tobs and i'm quite fond of c.o. bigelow.. but it seems as if soaps are quite a bit more fun and less mess.. also.. with my artist club.. creams don't provide the thick safety barrier i get from soaps.

by accident, I tried a tobs cream. It was very pleasing. 'Only cream I've tried so far.

That is one of the most thoughtful things I've ever heard, about your sister. That's cool.

Maybe she'll get you Martin de Candre next? I love the French soaps too and MdC is my favorite of them all.

I do have both and love them equally. Seriously, I haven't had a soap that I haven't liked. They all lathered wonderfully for me.

What I have found that (at least in my case) makes a big difference is water quality. I only use filtered (or distilled) water for making lather. This has truly catapulted my lathers to new heights. So much so that the brand of soap I use makes little difference. it becomes a matter of taste (or rather scent)

I do LOVE the scent of Pre de Provence...A LOT!!!! it is awakening and soothing in the morning and I really like using it with the creme + glycerin for some über action.

MWF is equally wonderful and haven't found any problems with lather quality...starting Day 1. Great and rich lather.

My advice:
Try soft water and see if that works with MWF...maybe some getting used to. Once you get this soap to behave, it will not disappoint.

i've been using strictly mwf for the last 2 weeks and i'm starting to really get a knack for it.. i do get the best results from really working the lather.. as much as i enjoy facelathering.. i'm tempted to break out the garden scuttle and really work up a nice lather.

i do need to pickup some musgo at some point as well.. so i can try glen's lanolin overload.
