GEO F. Trumper Shaving Cream = $$$
The Trumper people were kind enough to send me a "first one's free" sample of their shaving creams in the mail; one Sandalwood, a Violet and a Lime.
Of these three, I definitely like the Sandalwood the best. So I went to their website to see about ordering one of their "screw thread pots" of the stuff.
Here's what the checkout invoice reads:
Soft Shaving Cream - Sandalwood - screw thread pot - 200g: £ 13.50
Delivery Charge to Canada: £ 22.38 (!!!)
Total: £ 35.88
£ 35.88 GBP equates to $74.3302 Canadian.
Woah. I sure did like the stuff, but man -- that's a hefty price to pay for some cream.
So my question to those of you who are wise in the ways of shaving creams is whether there are any other avenues I should be exploring? Any cheaper, equally as luxurious lathers out there?
If any of you guys have a lot of nice creams and would like to part with some, I'd be willing to trade a nice 5/8 "Spike" wedge.

Of the three most popular English creams (Trumper's, Taylor's, Truefitt & Hill), Trumper's is the most expensive. Taylor's while exhibiting the lowest price at almost 50% that of Trumper's, is every bit as good, if not better. Two good places to order Taylor's are:
www.classicshaving.com
www.qedusa.com
I have simply mentioned these two (Taylor's, T&H) because they, like the Trumper's, are English creams. If you want to branch out a little bit and experiment, there are MANY very good creams available for very reasonable prices.

If you went directly to their website, then I'm sure you can find other retailers (USA & CA) with much better prices for both Trumper's product and shipping.

Thanked: 1I have used trumper for several years, I like the violet one the best, that is just personal pref. That said I also occasional use Crabtree and Eveylin, I have to say that there is not much between them.
I also used Taylors Shaving shop cream for a while and it is also fantastic and about half the trumpers price, but does not last as long.
To buy these over the counter in the UK are.
Trumpers £14.50
Taylors £6.95
Crabtree £14.50

Thanked: 0I haven't seen as much mention of them over here as I have at SMF, but I've had very good luck with the Kiss My Face line of creams. They're intended as brushless creams, but they work much better for me with a brush, when they're quite wonderful. They're my standard shaving kit.
The scents are allegedly not as strong as some creams; for someone with allergies like mine, that's a selling point, not a disappointment.
I'm especially fond of the Fresh Mint and Key Lime, and also like the Peach, Vanilla, and Virgin Forest. I was seriously allergic to the Jasmine.
They're pretty cheap--their website has the small tubes for $4 and the 11 oz. pumps for $6. The older packaging for the jasmine creams (same formula; they've just changed the package design) is on sale right now for $1 and $2 respectively, as are the Virgin Forest and unscented creams.
Check 'em out!

I bought my trumper's creams from http://www.spaskin.com which had very good prices AND the shipping was free. Not sure if they'll ship to canada free but it's worth a try.
I think the trumper's lime is so far my favorite of anything I've tried. Beats T&H hands down IMO, although I'm wanting to try some of the taylor avocado because I hear it's pretty good too.

Thanks guys. I'm learning a lot.
gfoster, the prices on the site you linked to seem to be pretty reasonable. I haven't factored in what they might charge for shipping, but I'll definitely be investigating that.
I also like Trumper's Lime-scented cream -- I shaved with the sample they sent me for the second time yesterday. I think I prefer the Sandalwood, though. It seems more "classic" or something. However, I read on the Trumper site that their Rose cream is their best seller, and I'm considering giving it a go. Either it, or the Sandalwood.
Has anyone tried the Rose? If so, what did you think of it?

shipping is *free* (at least for the US) on spaskin though. When you factor in the fact that shipping is free it was the cheapest place I found to buy trumpers

There is a site www. shoplondon's.com which has a good selection of trumper stuff and they are in the U.S and charge about $5.95 flat rate shipping or free if you order $100 worth of stuff.
I find the Trumpers or Haslinger soaps are about the best out there overall. Usually if I have to order something from overseas its a big order otherwise the shipping isn't worth it.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
