    Default the wonders of tabac

ive just had my first shave with my lot of tabac which arrived this morning. after only using col conk the lather with this one really astounded me. i'm still pretty new to shaving with a straight but today i had no nicks, no razor burn and the end result is the smoothest shave i've had in my life. is this down to the soap im using or am i just getting better?

Do not know anything about the Conk soaps, however Tabac is wonderful stuff.

You are also probably figuring the blade out a bit as well.

    Keep at it.

Were you using the cream or the cake soap?

Holy smokes, sorry to highjack the thread, but I spotted the link in your tagline...

Just wanted to say thanks for your efforts. Great video, for a great cause.

I came to SRP to learn about what's important in straight razor shaving and I keep getting lessons about what's important in life. Glad you're with us. Welcome to SRP.

its the soap block, my eyes have been opened to decent shaving soap after years of struggling with lather.

cheers man, it was an awesome experience and despite it being awful at times it was all worth it for the charity and the huge sense of accomplishment when i got back home

That was an amazingly brilliant effort on your part.

I have wanted to try Tabac for some time. What is the scent like?

@alembic- Tabac's scent is singular and unique. I and many others do like it but I can also understand why many do not.

While the soap stick is not expensive you can get a sample of the cream from TSD for a couple bucks and find out if the sent is you or not, before investing in a stick.

the scent is brilliant, its my favourite one of the ones that ive tried or smelled in shops. to me it smells slightly floral, not feminine at all though.
i had just read about it on this site and only really heard good things about it so i went and ordered some of the web, cost me £10 which i thought was a pretty good price for a fair amount of soap. it worked really well with my badger brush but just got a boar today so will give it a go with that later and see if the brush has much of an impact
