Thumbs up C.O. Bigelow ON SALE!!!

I know this really isnt much of a question, but more of a great deal... C.O. Bigelow is on sale at Bath and Body Works. I dont know for how long, but right now they're buy 2 get 2 free. Both sizes, big tube and little tube... i just picked up 4 big tubes for 20$ total. So, for all those die hard lovers of Proraso, you may want to pick up the deal. Now, i just need to experiment with the tubes to find a good smelling, slick Uberlather, any ideas welcome. Enjoy!

    josh,

Try some Mitchell's Wool Fat soap and 2-3 drops of glycerin.

Then too, any of the Straight razor Designs shaving soaps may just do the trick as well.

Thanks for the heads up, as i've never really worked with Mitchell's, does it have a smell? Also, can you think of anywhere in particular to buy it? Still just working with VDH deluxe soap, debating on picking up a Crabtree and Evelyn soap i saw today, "Nomad". Its not bad, a bit of a smoking kind of smell, but i dont think it'd work with the C.O. Bigelow.

I just made an Uber lather with CO Bigelow and TGQ's Blackberry Sage soap yesterday. I added a few drops of glycerine and began to work. My lather was perfect, real thick and it held it's consistentcy too. Great stuff. I bought that same deal from the same shop (different town) about a year ago.

Mitchell's has a light scent that's not very noticeable. It reminds me of milled hotel soaps.

I use the same shave cream from bath and body... I kind of use the Uber later method that Jockeyes from the website does. Basically load your brush with the soap cake of your choice, glycerin (bought at any pharmacy in the bandaid section), and your shaving cream...Whip it up and enjoy. Check out the video he did

He also does some really good shaving videos that helped answer alot of my questions about how to shave with a straight.

    Good luck

What's crazy is that after watching that video, i realized what one of my bigger problems is. I really dont shake out my brush enough. I usually just wring it out a bit with my hand, so that its still a bit moist. This paired with the excess water on my soap disk leaves for a lather in the soap cup. SO i dont get as much of a loading of soap as i do a beginning of a lather. Is this possibly why after i build up a frothy lather that it drys out? Everyday seems to be an epiphony on here! It may also be the quality soap i have now (VDH Deluxe) nothing special just run of the mill soap.

I'll throw out my disclaimer now that I am by far not any expert in any of these areas of shaving since I have only been doing the Straight thing for a little over a year, but on the other have become a fast learner...That being said your probably correct as to why your getting the lather in while loading your soap is because your brush is to wet. One thing I did learn also is that after I load my brush I also put some hot water in my soap bowl to 1 clean out the excess and 2 I swirl that around and ad that to my lather when I think it is too dry. Keep trying different methods and you'll find that one and then you just duplicate it and you'll be money.
