Thanked: 1160I would be skeptical on 2lbs. of soap for 20.00 but then again I stay away from E-bay.For 20.00 you could have gotten a puck of Mitchells wool fat soap from SRD and it's awesome ! Check the vendors on this site as you will find excellent quality Soaps here SRD is the best deal goin and also MamaBears soaps are outstanding as well.A good soap is every bit as important as a good razor and any of the equipment you need or want is best found here.Stay away from the Bay as it's loaded with bad deals...IMHO anyway.Welcome to SRP..you will find not a better bunch of people than right here who will help with all your needs so ask questions by the ton and read the Wiki most important of all.And of course as our founder Lynn always says..HAVE FUN !

Shaving Soap
Hello, Buickguy:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place.
I agree with my friend Nightblade: that 2lbs. soap sounds suspicious. And, yes, the vendors noted at SRP are trustworthy and offer a wide range of quality products.
For soaps, let me offer some brands I have used and liked: Mitchell's Wool Fat, Tabac, Truefitt & Hill, Provence Sante Verlaine, Institute Karite, Pre de Provence and Mama Bear, among others.
Regards,
Obie

I agree with Nightblade and Obie. If it sounds to good to be true... Also, the excessive use of caps and large type reminds me of a used car salesman on TV. No, I'd steer clear of this one.
Nightblade mentioned MWF, a fine soap, and I'll mention the soaps from SRD. The unscented starts at $8 and the scented soaps are a few dollars more. The lather is simply wonderful.
Buick lover, are you? I have a '64 Wildcat. Glad you're here and welcome to SRP.I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

Thanked: 317It also says "soap base." Leads me to believe that's it not even a complete shave soap, but basically a starter for making your own. I'd stay away.

Thanked: 2soaps
Thanks to everyone, and yes SRD has a lot of nice looking stuff!I just ordered 2 strops from there, the wool & the cotton all 3".Now i"ll have to learn how to use them, but thats no problem because of the vast amount of knowledge everyone shares so freely! Also I love classic cars.
Thanks again,Forrest
