    Default Another Mamabear soap review

So far I've tried Dragon's Blood and the Eygyptian Musk. Both lather up great. Both smell great. I love the little containers they come in. I don't have to wait until one of my mugs is empty to try one. Plus they'll make great small parts containers.

Next to try is the English Leather scent. But if it lathers up like the first two, I can't wait to try the other scents out.

So many scents to try, so little time.

So far, I have 7 of her soaps. I haven't tried the English Leather, but the of the ones I have, all lather the same. I kind of expected some of the scented oils to affect the lather, but they all lather equally thus far. My next one will be the amber, I love the scent of the Colonel Conk amber!

I just got to try my first mamabear shave soap this morning. She sent me the "Elements of Bamboo" as part of a beer swap. My fiancee wasn't too keen on the description of the scent from the website but I thought it sounded great. It got here and when I let her sniff it she was all "oooooohhhhhh" and I could see this look in her eye like she wanted to swipe it from me.

Turns out it has a WONDERFUL clean scent that's a bit complex for me to describe. I'm not a big musk or spice type of person, I prefer natural bright clean scents and this has elements of citrus and wood and other good bright clean smells that are just wonderful. It's light and doesn't linger on the skin too much either, so it doesn't compete with anything else.

As for the shave, well, I think this is one of the best hard shaving soaps I've ever used. I don't know if she uses a glycerin melt and pour base that she scents herself or her own basic soap formulation from scratch but it's got a smooth slick lather. I was a little concerned when I first lathered up because the lather seemed awfully lightweight but with lots of volume... big poofy bubbles and such (maybe too much water) but I shouldn't have worried because it shaved wonderfully and the lather lasted to the end of the shave (2 passes) with no problem, no irritation, just a nice clean glide. Probably my second best hard soap (C&E Sienna) has a good lather also but doesn't protect me nearly as much as this, leaves me just a tiny bit itchy after the shave and with ever so slight of a burn. Mamabear's soap was head and shoulders above the rest.

Good stuff! Oh, and she sent it in a small plastic tub which I don't know if that's normal or not or if all her soaps go out in the plastic tubs but I have to say WAY TO GO! I love to not have to dedicate another mug to it, just grab it, spin the top off, load my brush and go. Sue, you rock! I'll definitely be trying some other scents when I whittle down my collection a little bit.

    Gary,

She sends them all in plastic tubs. Rik at B&B placed a small order, and here is a pic of his soaps...

Oh that's a riot Wonder how long it will take him to work his way through all that?

I have to say the plastic tub was an unexpected and very welcome touch. Seems weird to focus on that when the quality of the shave and the scent were both top notch but sometimes it's the little things that stand out to take something over the edge.

I believe he already had 6 of her soaps prior to this order!
