    Default The unusable soap!

I stumbled across a burts bees bay rum gift set while looking for essential oils and I loved the smell, so it came home with me. The aftershave balm is great, but the soap, well I'm not sure if that is fair to other soaps to be lumped in with this stuff. It is like the anti-soap! Takes forever to lather, and when you do get a lather it has no substance to it. It may look rich and creamy in the bowl but once on the face it just dissapears! I tried all the tips I could find and even grated it and pressed it in a bowl, no luck what so ever. Since it said vegetable based I also tried using a double boiler to no avail. Last but not least, even though I knew better, I tried to microwave it..that was stupid and only earned me a bad burnt soap smell nd a cracked bowl. So overall, I am really dissapointed in the soap but do love the aftershave balm.

I have to agree with you. I tried using this soap for at least a month and couldn't really get a good lather out of it. A pity. The fragrance was great. I now build my lather with a generic glycerin soap and Bigelow Shaving Cream. Simple but satisfying.

i used the soap for years with my mach3 and loved it.. the only issue being it lacks the glide needed for a straight razor shave.

If given a choice I"ll take Williams Soap over Burt's B's any day in the bloody week!! Though I do have a preference for SRD's Bay Rum scented soap.

Another small bit of my mind, tinkersd

Just my luck I ran across this thread just after ordering two pucks of the stuff. I had read another thread lamenting the fact that this wonderful soap had been discontinued, and immediately set about finding some. I found it on the ebay, and ordered two of them. They arrived the other day, and on first use I was inclined to agree with the above posts. Lots of work, for a substandard lather (that smelled wonderful). Determined not to have wasted the money, I grated one puck and pressed it into my mug. This morning I mug-lathered it, and was surprised to have loads of nice, soft clouds of really fine smelling lather. I didn't find it nearly as cushioning or slick as my Cella, but not bad at all, really. It did leave my face feeling soft and smooth, with no irritation, so tomorrow I think I'll try adding a bit of glycerine to see if I can improve on it.
Meanwhile, the other puck is hiding in my underwear drawer, quietly scenting things. Did I mention that I really like the bay rum scent?

Re melt it and add some shampoo and a piece of glycerin soap to it. You'll have a fantastic shaving bar that foams right up
