    Default Adding Glycerine

I just used glycerine for the first time this morning and it added a whole new level to my shave. I use the SRD frankencense which is a good soap even without the added glycerine. When I added three drops to the soap, I had more lather than I knew what to do with. Tomorrow I think I will try two drops and experiment until I find the perfect amount of water, soap and glycerine.

One benefit I noticed immediately was how much smoother shaving was. It felt like my blade had been sharpened to a perfect edge. For anyone who wants to pick some glycerine it can be found at the Wal Mart Pharmacy area in the anit-itch medication. I think I paid three or four dollars for a six ounce bottle. I am definitley not ready for a gallon.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread.

    Hi Dave,
Sorry for the late post, but glad it worked out. it's hard to go wrong with glycerin (unless you add too much).

How did the experiment go with 2 drops?

    Default Two Drops

Two drops with the SRD Shaving Soap seems to be about right. It made such a smooth and full lather that I think I could have shaved with a hunting knife. I am still amazed by all the information that is available here at SRP. It is little bits of information like the information regarding glycerine that makes shaving interesting and less of a chore.

Thanks again for the all the help and information.

DCasper is right. A small bottle is available at practically any pharmacy. If you use a few drops it should last a long time.
