    Question Has anyone tried Caldo?

I was in Target the other day, replenishing my Proraso after-shave lotion (thanks again for the heads-up, RT!). I noticed that Caldo had a shaving cream for $10.99, I believe. I opened the thing up and gave it a sniff... very nice! I just wondered if anyone's actually used it and what their thoughts are.

    Thanks,

It's been reviewed over at SMF. The best compliment was that it smells nice. Not much of a shaving cream. From what I remember, you're better off doubling up your Proraso stock or just keeping your money. If you don't have the Proraro Pre/Post Shaving Cream, pick up a jar of that instead.

Thanks again Randy (see I told you in your "Hit and Miss" thread that I would continue to need your advice!).

I read the Caldo posts on SMF and have decided to skip their shaving cream and go for the Proraso Pre/Post Cream.

You will love the Proraso, especially with the heat!

Shaving with a straight razor needs you to be fully awake and alert. There's nothing better than Proraso pre-shave to get you wide awake, plus it's really good for cleaning out your sinuses.

Its great for REALLY hot weather too....I know its winter down there now, but Im sure you have had the pleasure of a nice menthol cooling during a shave in the hot sumer.

P.S. Sorry for the thread hi-jacking

JL, it's not winter down here...snowball fight anyone ?

Any time of year Proraso is my favourite, not greasy like some pre shave oils etc, washes of the hands quickly for a good grip on the blade.

I agree. I already have the small tub of Proraso shave soap, and that menthol really smells and feels good. If you like that, you should give the Tom's of Maine cream a try. It's got peppermint oil in it. Kinda smells like toothpaste, but lathers well and really refreshes.

I like the idea that it's not greasy! Boy, you guys make me want to go out and get it now, but I have to work!

I checked out the $40 brush/mach3/stand set by Caldo in Target. The brush fell apart into three pieces in my hands, right out of the box. They thread back together, but not very well made. The badger bristle is bargain basement quality. I'd suggest that the entire Poraso line is better, brush included.
