Thoughts on Penhaligon's Opus 1870
I'm going to be looking for a new shave cream here pretty soon, and the Opus 1870 caught my eye. From the description on SRD, it seems like a pretty robust scented cream.
But before I spent $40 on a cream, I was wondering if I could get any feedback on it. I do love my Sandalwood AoS, but I want something....more. I want something with more oomph. Something that is bold and says "I'm a man and I just shaved with a straight razor". Is this the kind of cream that's going to do that?
Essentially...what do you guys, who've used it, think of this cream?

I use Opus 1870.
It is one of my favorite creams and scents. However, it is not the strongest or the most masculine scent out there. The Quality of the Penhaligons shaving cream is very very good. For the more potent and masculine scent from Pengaligon, I would go for English Fern. That is only available in soap, not cream.
Another fav of mine is Endymion.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I haven't used the Opus, but I regularly use the Blenheim Bouquet, another of Penhaligons's ranges. This is an awesome citrus scent and the cream performs excellently, one of my favourites. No doubt its performance would be the same as the Opus, albeit a different scent, which is why I am posting. Similarly I have used AOS, though the lavender variety. While it produces a great lather, it is not in the same league as Penhaligons. AOS does not produce as meringue-like, luscious and protective lather as Pehaligons, and AOS is far more sensitive to water increments. I prefer everything about it other than the price. If you go for the glass jar with the silver plated lid, it is sure to delight you every time you look at it.
