Thanked: 1195I'm big on performance: cushion, glide, nice thick consistancy and moisturizing for my face. I have quite a few soaps and creams to be choosy, so if it doesn't match up with my criteria I don't want it. Scent is important, yes, but sometimes I will make an exception for an exceptional product. Case in point: I have a small tub of Gentlemen's Refinery Black Ice that lathers with the best of them, but it smells like black licorice. I am not a fan of licorice....

i haven't used many soaps since i'm fairly new to the wet shaving world, but so far my favorite is proraso. it lathers up quick and thick. it stays hydrated. it is very slick and allows the blade to glide down your face. the smell and, especially the menthol, are very refreshing on the face.

Thanked: 3795Like many others, it's mainly about degree of lubrication, which directly correlates with how my face feels afterward. Now, the quality of the scent is a great bonus, but it is entirely secondary to the performance.

Much like Lynn liking long lasting suds in his scuttle for multiple passes, I like it when I can lather for three passes from the brush without reloading, and not necessarily big suds, but thick, creamy suds that cushion. Suds law is my favourite right now for thick lather, cushion and scent. I'm not big on scent but there's some that are fantastic and the goats milk is fantastic or my skin.
But then again I havent tried many soaps, but I'm waiting on Tabac so, I'll see how that goes
