Van Hagen Shaving Soap
I recently switched to Van Hagen and have gotten excellent shaving results. It works well with my pre-shave oil. It's easy to whip up a good lather that looks like white makeup on the face. I found it in my local Rite Aid drugstore.

It is a great soap, especially for the price, one of the soaps I always have around.

I just started using it, it was better than the soap I was previously using. The "old" stuff was of inferior quality, I picked it up at Walgreen's drugs. Van Hagen is much, much better.

My favorite soap for uber-lathering.

I shred a bar into a bowl, then lightly pack. It seems to help, but may not last as long as the solid puck.

Thanked: 1262VDH works o.k. My biggest complaint was that it dried out my face. The lather is no where as good as some of the slightly more expensive soaps.
When you factor in how long a puck of VDH lasts compared to tabac or mwf, it probably is not any cheaper.

vdh is a pretty good soap. i use it when i'm in a rush just to face lather. even with the cheap vdh boar brush, it lathers up pretty good.

Thanked: 0The Deluxe is my favorite. I bought a case of it in fact. While it dosen't have the slickness of tallow based soaps, it works very well when I face lather. I only get about 45 shaves from each puck, so it may not be as cheap as it might appear.
