Leather Neck?
I was wondering if anyone can describe the leatherneck scent... By the name i can assume it has leather as a base scent, but was wondering if anything else lingered in it..

Walk into your local United States Marine Corps recruiting office. Seize the officer there by the lapel. Sniff him thoroughly. That, my friend, is what leatherneck smells like.

Now I know there are rumors of Navy and Marine getting fruity, but lemme tell ya they are just jokes... And no WAY am I going to just sniff a guy.. That's worse than breaking bathroom rule number 2 (never carry on a conversation with someone at the urinal) and of course there is number one (if there are other urinals available do not take the one right next to another guy)...

First of all, if there is an officer in the recruiting office your not in the right place. Officers don't recruit Marines.... Marines recruit Marines. Enlisted Marines! And we don't have lapels.... we have collars. In fact, leatherneck was a term used to describe our collars back in the sword fighting days. It was a "leatherneck" guard worn by Marines to help protect our necks from being sliced.
But to answer the OP... It has a very masculine scent. I had to try it when I saw it and I have to say it is an enjoyable scent and fine performing soap.

At least I'm not the only leatherneck here! I can say that, contrary to what many may think, u do not want to grab any marine and smell...especially after getting home from a deployment! My wife will not even hug me until I take a shower! And of course we don't know any better because we've grown used to it... I'm told we stink, I guess it could be true

If Colleen ever comes back to making soap for us once again, Leatherneck or any other flavor she makes should be a first choice! God bless you Colleen, wherever you are!

I definitely agree with the two other marines on here, not a good thing to do. And yes definitely after deployment the stench is horrid.. Now granted I was Navy, but I was the rate that got to have just as much fun..
Well here to be honest this is what I am doing. I started making my own shaving soaps and after hearing about all the cool scents I figured I would try my hand at em. I already have the pipe tobacco down with a twist... I am not going to say that it is exactly cavendish or anything but I just truly get impatient and wanted to try it out. I always have left overs.. I don't want to take any of colleens thunder or anything but like I have said in a few of my posts if I can figure out how to make it myself I will.. and being retired (yes 37 and retired from the military) gives me nothing but time and you can sit and play video games and fish for so long until it catches up.. So many hobbies.. Anyway... any help with popular scents is awesome.. I also understand those who are completely loyal.. and of course I am always willing to let anyone try some samples for feedback..
So the moral of the story is.. Don't go sniffin Marines.. not healthy.. and especially after deployment for Navy or Marines.. that's just toxic.. Matter of fact every year I would burn my deployment uniforms (because there is just NOOOOO amount of soap that will get that 11 month stench out) and then get new ones... Ask any Navy or Marine that spent much time on a Carrier.. Yaaaar... Especially during water hours.. Consequently it was water hours that started me to make soap.. Salt water just doesn't give a good lather to any soap at all so i found one that would and made it.. became popular and the guys on the ship.. including marines bought bar after bar before deployment..
Any help is greatly appreciated.. If you wanna try my extra's by all means send me a PM.. Not really selling anything as of yet, because I am still experimenting..
Thank you..
