    why not just run the brush over the end of the stick? messy?

    I run the brush over shave sticks all the time. I rarely use shavesticks directly to my face because I can't stop reviewing that commercial for Head-On: "apply directly to the forehead"

    The guy at the turkish barbers i buy my arko from slices his into discs and puts it in a soap dish, and i believe some guys get a cheese grater going on theirs

    They tend to be small-ish (around 1") and hard, so it just feels awkward and impractical. Takes too long, in other words. Moisturizing it and applying it to my ridged scuttle takes all the hassle away. I believe they were intended for application directly on the stubble, then face lathering.
