    Default Available In Your Area

Don't know if this will be useful or not, I hope it will be, but i had the idea to start a thread listing the soaps and creams available in members areas, from local shops, not online, so members, either in a city or visiting, know where to pick up good stuff.

Figure it could work like this, In the title to your reply you list the country and city and in the main body list the shops and then the products available. If it goes well maybe it could be a sticky, then as it builds members can click on the thread, search within the titles for the city and have a mini local database.

As you find more stuff you can go back and and edit your post to include further products.

    Cheers

    Simon

Good idea! I'm always on the lookout for shaving soaps and more often than not I'm dissapointed...

So far I know Asda has Wilkinsons soap for £2 and Boots have their own brand for a few quid. I'm on a mission to find some more at the end of the month through searching barbers and various ethnic shops to try to get something different. I've never been into shaving creme but I'm going to try that as well to open more options. As you can see from availability in my neck of the woods I've always ordered soaps online!

    Update to follow...

Right then, I forgot about this and just remembered. It would seem as though to find the finer things in Northampton you need the internet! No wonder I do so much online shopping, no higher end soaps anywhere that I've enquired at in shoe town.

As mentioned already Boots has various things, other drug stores have Palmolive and Erasmic in abundance but I went into a chemist not far from me the other day and they had a decent selection of oldschool aftershaves as well as Ingrams cream. They had Jovan musk, Blue Stratos, Tabac, Brut, Old Spice, etc. among others. The icing on the cake was Yardley English Lavender Brilliantine, not anything to do with shaving but I thought it was a nice touch to see in a random chemist I had forgotten about.

I also found big bottles of West Indies Bay Rum for around £3.50 at a hair/nail salon. They have normal and extra strength, it's green, cheap and quite strong. Works for me! I don't have much to add to what has been mentioned by Tekbow above, when it comes to product it appears I live in Nohopeton. Anyone else have anything decent local to them?

The only thing I've seen, of quality, is Pre de Provence soap and cream. Sold at Central Market.
Anybody else know of a source for quality shaving materials in Austin?

Regarding Austin: Enchante is downtown. I've never been, but I've read about it on The Shave Den and Badger & Blade.

In Houston we have The British Isles in Rice Village and they have a wide variety of products including Edwin Jagger Straights and DE razors; TOBS, Truefitt & Hill, and Trupmers products; Edwign Jagger brushes, and lots more. I've been there and it's a very nice store!

There is also a Life Check Drugs on Post Oak near the Rice Epicurean market that had the Caswell Massey Line, Col. Conk Soaps, some brushes (Altesse, Edwin Jagger, and more), and the last time I was there they had Tabac aftershave and cologne too.

Whole Foods also carries the Kiss My Face creams and some others (I've only seen this on other boards).

Good idea for a thread, Simon!

I've not scouted out all of Glasgow yet, but came across a few places that might be of interest so far.

    Glasgow

Arran Aromatics - Princes Sq, Buchanan Street
All the mens Bay Citrus range (smells great by the way)

Crabtree and Evelyn - Princes Sq, Buchanan Street
Sienna, Nomad, Sandlewood etc and brushes

    L'Occitane - Buchanan Street
    Cade line

House of Frasers - Buchanan Street
All the big designer names for aftershaves, colognes etc - but not much in way of traditional wet shaving supplies

The Executive Shaving Company - Silverburn
Proraso, Kent, ToBS, Trumper etc - a good selection of just some of the lines they carry at their warehouse

Thats all I can think of for now, but will add any others that I come across.

    Barrie
