Herban Cowboy is total crap. We need to post warnings that it is to be assiduously avoided as a shaving soap. Only fit for body soap use if someone has made the mistake of buying it. Maybe in a beginner's FAQ along with the bad eBay razors.
the funny part about soaps and soap makers is that just like cooking everyone has a different interpretation of what is needed in a soap.. in my experience (and believe me if there are any soapers on here they are probably going to hate me) many of them use fillers in order to bulk op a bar of soap but not have to put in as much of the more luxurious oils like Avacado, Shae butter, Cocoa butter, Jojoba, Lanolin, ect.. The filler is.. believe it or not.. Crisco.. Now Crisco (hydrolyzed soybean oil)... it hardens the bar... has equal cleansing and moisturizing properties and it's cheap.. Even MANY of the high end soaps use it.. along with Coconut oil.. Olive oil is another filler but it has GREAT moisturizing properties that are matched only by a few.. I am not going to name the shaving soap because it wouldn't be fair, but it's very high end, and quite costly, but it has a LOT of soy, and olive oil.. Nothing wrong with it... Just doesn't justify the price at all.. and with shaving soaps there are other factors.. Types of Clays.. You have to take into count that some don't like bentonite or Kaolin clays.. and those are the most common clays..
