Thread: Melting Proraso?

Hi everyone,

I know this must have been asked before but I cant seem to find the thread. Tonight I am re forming my proraso into a sealable glass sugar jar type container. My plan was to scoop it out and seal it in my new container, then I planned on boiling the container in some water on the stove. I did see some posts on why microwaving wasnt a good idea as it could destroy the scent.

Is it safe to say that my plan is the standard?

Proraso is a very soft soap, I don't see any reason to melt it, just press it into shape with your thumb.

I "grate" my soaps, then empty the flakes into whatever I want, the grated soap flakes somewhat dissolve in the little bit of hot water in my lather bowl, picks up on the brush easier, no changing of the soap.

Agreed. Even if it needs a little persuasion just a few seconds in the micro should be enough to ideally soften it.

I use proraso and what I've found is that just kinda breaking it up in the few drops of water I have in my lathering bowl does the trick. I do about 75% of the lather in the bowl and finish on my face. No need for melting.
