soap sadness
i undoubtably consider myself a cream user for lather. i very much enjoy the ease of applying creams to my brush, i enjoy the ease of adding more cream if i didn't start with enough or if i need more lather for the final pass. i think the scents associated with creams are more vivid and robust. the superlative qualities such as lubrication, moisturizing, lather building are easy to experience when using creams.
however, every single time i rotate thru my assortment of creams and come full circle back to my QED grapefruit and pepperment SOAP from charles i am totally amazed. there isn't another soap or cream that gives me as close of a shave as his soap. the lather simply explodes from it like no other soaps i have ever used. i am truly saddened by how great this soap is. i want to put my soaps away, i want to buy more creams and try more scents while not having TOOOOO many total, but i just don't have it in me to take QED soap out of my rotation. it truly is spectatular
so it is with a heavy heart and a BBS face from todays QED shave that i will order another tub of his soap tomorrow.

Yeah! Patchouli/Tea Tree/Peppermint! I love this stuff. All three scents are evident, it is COOLING, and a great way to wake up and start the day! My absolute favorite QED product!

Thanked: 0Boy, what hardship! I agree wholeheartedly about QEDman soaps! They have nearly converted me to soap only.
The link is http://www.qedusa.com
I have the Lavender (which is good), Sandalwood, Pine&cedar, Vetiver, Lemon&Cedar, and Patchouli/TT/Peppermint.
My favorites, by far, are the Sandalwood and Pine& Cedar, with the Vetiver coming a close, close, third. Some people think the Pine & Cedar is too piney, and smells like Pine Sol (household cleaner). I don't think it smells like any kind of cleaner at all. It is exactly like standing in a pine forest, no joke. None of that air freshener fake pine scent crap.
The Sandalwood is long lasting, and not to be missed. The Vetiver is a love it or hate it. Check other threads about this one (Edit: whoops, might want to check shavemyface.com or Badger&Blade.com for more opinions). It is very earthy/top soil-y/roots of grass with the clumps of dirt left on smell. If you can't tell, I'm more of a outdoor/woodsy scent person (it's the field biologist in me). I still love taylor's shave shop and Mr. Taylors scents, but given my druthers, I would take QEDman woodsy scents any day.
O.K.
edit: forgot to add, QED Charles has outstanding customer service. He is in my top three favorite vendors (of about 5 that I actually trust), and is a top-class gentleman to boot!Last edited by Gaelicboy; 09-28-2006 at 01:06 PM.

We should also mention that while Charles service is top notch, the site is not the most user friendly. If you have trouble finding something ask here or contact Charles directly. QED soap is excellent and don't forget to get the Tabac soap while you're there!

to answer about where to get the soaps:
http://www.qedusa.com
this site uses frames so you have to navigate thru it.
on the LEFT you will see "OTHER FABULOUS TOILETRY PRODUCTS OFFERED BY QED" along with a blinking multicolour flag thing. CLICK that
scroll 1/2 way down the page under the heading "QEDman [USA]" that is the list of his shaving soaps.

Funny how the worm turns so to speak. I've never considered myself much of a cream guy I usually use soap, my favorites are trumpers and haslinger but I tried this Castle Forbes Cream and its really won me over I hate to rotate back to my soaps now.
