Terry...just when I had too much free time lol (ya ya...I know I do) The history of superglue huh....well on the bright side at least you werent the guy that sat down and wrote it! Anyway, that sounds about right, vietnam...here guys...we dont have any evacs for you...here is some glue...put yourselves back together and catch up as soon as you can...well hell...at least its better than duct tape and plastic sheeting!!
Oh hell the govt issued gas mask I have for after the plane hit the pentagon only has partical filters!!! I mean its more than the guys at the trade towers got...but umm...partical filters dont exactly keep out jet toxic fumes!!
Luckily, I got mine after the fact, I wasnt working with the pentagon at that time...now they just issue them in case you walk by an area with asbestos, etc....still the same old filters though...gotta love that govt funding!

If I remember correctly ( early 80's ), the 20/20
report indicated that " the adhesive " which was
compared to Super Glue was used in the hospitals.
It was used to patch together internal organs that
were badly damaged. Esentially they were put back
together like a jig saw puzzle. They interviewed
guy would would have probably died otherwise.
One purpose of the report was to show that while
used in Vietnam with success, the FDA would not
approve it for use inside the US.

one of the reasons.
It seems that the FDA claimed that it wasn't
safe and the long term effects.......
Why not keep tabs on some of the guys that
it was used on? If these guys were willing to
do so. I wouldn't force them though.

After reading their removal page, I realized why it's so good for wounds. CA instantly cures when exposed to moisture!

Did the show mention how long they survived for after its use? I wasnt under the impression that it was that successful...maybe I'm wrong?

The doctor's being interviewed were
begging the FDA to approve the use
of the stuff in this country.
So apparently it was safe. If anyone of
the men interviewed had since died
from side effects since then, I haven't
seen or heard anything.
But the stuff appeared to be a life saver for
many GI's and Marines wounded in combat.
Of course I'm going by that report and it
has been many years ago.

I know of sterilized strands coming from rats' tails used for eye surgery. The beauty of that method was that it got absorbed and there were no stitches to take out. There's lots of good stuff out there that the FDA won't approve.

Thanked: 9A practicing surgeon has recommended super glue to me in the past - if I need to close a wound quickly. Can't remember where, but it might have been outside US as he said they use it all the time
Cheers
