Default Razorock Third Eye and TOB Sandlewood

I stopped by the pharma today and picked up some Razorock Third Eye soap and some Taylor of Old Bond Sandlewood (they had much much more that I wanted but my wallet just couldn't handle )

Got home and whipped up both in my scuttle (one at at time LOL) to see how they did, it felt like the TOB took quite a bit of effort to get lather out of, My gut is telling me a few drops of Glycerin would really make this shine, and it would be great in an uber as well. and on the real plus side, it smells oh so nice IMHO (Really really digging the scent)

I grabbed the Razorock because it was inexpensive and being how I am blind in one eye I figured I couldn't go wrong with something called "Third eye" (it was sealed so I couldn't sniff it first, but it was only 10 bucks so it wasn't a big hit on the wallet) I was a bit surprised to see that it wasn't like other soaps, it was a gel like soft squishy substance (square puck in the bowl) it literally exploded into lather with only a few swirls of the brush and stayed moist etc.

However, I am not digging the smell.... Has anyone else tried this soap?

It sounds like the RazoRock was a cream or at the very least a soft soap. Comparing ease of lathering with that type vs a triple milled hard soap (TOBS) is almost unfair, like comparing apples and oranges. I haven't tried RazorRock, so I can't comment on its scent or performance.

I do have TOBS however, and have been using for years so I do know a bit about it. IME it shouldn't require any glycerin to make it shine, it's capable of doing that on its own. It was the first premium soap I bought after starting out with Proraso, so there was a bit of a learning curve to lathering a hard English soap. What I find works really well with hard soaps (including MWF) is to soak the puck with a couple teaspoons of water while you shower, and then use that soapy water to hydrate your lather while making it. Of course other factors come into play like water hardness and lathering technique, but play with it a bit and let us know how it goes.

Yeah I just got an order of MWF and it took a few trys to get a decent lather out of it, but it's coming together, I still can't get a decent lather out of the TOBS without at least adding glycerin, but i'll try soaking the puck first and see if that helps...

As for the Razorock, I want to try their creams, but this thirdeye while it actually isn't bad for shaving (decent cushion etc) it just is turning me off with the scent, Oh well, off to buy even more soaps and creams

Razorock's are soft Italian soaps, and third eye is one of their tallows if I'm not mistaken. I have a few of their artisan soaps and am more than satisfied. An excellent choice!
