I get a hint of it but I agree it is very faint to the smokey sweet smell. SWMBO likes it though.

I haven't tried the cream but have the soap. I could see where the scent could be polarizing but I like it. IMO, it's an excellent soap.

    Gentlemen,
I Coloniali is a quality soap. It lathers well. Glide and cushion are fine. The fragrance, although intoxicating, could be toned down a bit. I put it in the second tier of good soaps, below Martin de Candre, Provence Sante, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Tabac and other high end soaps. I Coloniali is one of those soaps that should be experienced at least once.

Keep hearing about Provence Sante, must try it. Does it have lavender in it? Sometimes I am allergic to lavender.

Provence Sante Verlaine, the version I prefer to the green tea, has a floral fragrance that is clean and refreshing, a combination of vervain and linden. No lavender that I know of. It's a vegetable based French soap with glycerin and shae butter. I find it an exquisite soap. It's one of the five soaps I'll probably never be without. The others are: Martin de Candre, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Institute Karite and D.R. Harris lavender. My I Coloniali, which is half way down, will end its run in the shave den once it's finished.
