Thread: Looking for organic shave soaps

I am interested in finding some organic shave soaps; that are considered to have non toxic ingredients. I have tried a couple at a local health store, but they didn't make very good lather, so would like to hear of any that have worked good for others.

There has been a couple threads lately along the same lines. I think the common theme is that even the "all natural" products contain products that are not so natural. Of course some may be better than others, perhaps another member will chime in with a recommendation. Just beware of some artisan soaps; they may seem appealing because of their ingredients and cottage industry origins, but the lather making abilities may be somewhat lacking.

My experiance with organic soaps, both shave and bath soaps, is that they really don't lather well. It is the synthetic or natural chemicals that help give that thick, rich lather that has the ability to hold it's form for more than 30 seconds.

Binder, check out Nordea Soaperie. They list their ingredients under each soap on line. These are not shave soaps. I have used their "Oh, What a Man" bar and have been more happy with it than any soap I've tried in years. The suds are not as good as chemically made off the shelf cakes, but I would describe it as way more than adequate. What is truly fantastic is the effect of this soap on the skin after the shower. It is truly moisturizing. No really, your dry skin will be no more and without using gross creams like swimbo always wants. Try for yourself. Check out nordeasoaperie.com. Only prob is it's 5.50 for shipping even if your getting just one bar (so get 3 ).

It isn't "technically" an organic soap, as the fragrence is artificial, I believe, but Cella soap is pretty close, and is considered one of the best lathering soaps out there.

Ingredients list is Cocos Nucifera, Tallow, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hidroxide, Sodium Hidroxide, Aqua, Potassium Carbonate, Parfum.

Queen Charlotte soaps lather beautifully and while I don't about them being 'organic', I can read, pronounce and understand every ingredient in the soaps I have from them. That's a start perhaps.

Check out Al's Shaving. The creams are made by a member here (alraz). I don't think they're organic but they're paraben free and such.

Amazing lather (little finicky in hard water but still amazing), great scent, super cushion and glide.
Doesn't dry out. I can do a 3 pass shave without adding more water then hand my lather bowl to my wife to shave het legs and it's still fine.

General opinion was that MWF was reasonably close to "natural", and it lathers very well.

I don't know what "organic" means, as applied to shaving soap.

+1 Cella is one of the simplest formulas out there with no preservatives.

I don't know of any shave soaps which claim to be "organic", but the following soaps all use "natural" ingredients.

This is a soap that I purchased from ShaveMac. I have since read that olive oil will kill your lather, but I have not had a chance to try this soap.
