Just starting here with a safety razor, and shaving soap, before was cream, and just a bar of soap, so i was wondering what soaps you guys like? i bought all four Colonel Conk, Bay Rum, Almond, Lime, and Amber, so far ive used almond, but was wondering what else is out there that you guys like? I'm more of a cream guy, but I'll always have a tub (green) of Proraso in my rotation. Used it today, as a matter of fact.

Arko shave stick and Proraso/Omega are the ones I usually recommend as they are inexpensive and perform as well as many of the expensive soaps. As far as creams go, I'm a huge fan of Godrej.

Proraso, Cella, Tabac, Mitchell's Wool Fat and any of the RazoRock artisan soaps are some that come to mind to recommend you try.

EU Palmolive stick, Arko Stick, Wilkinson Sword stick, VDH Deluxe and Glycerin, any of Col. Conk's, MWF, Provence Sante Verlain, Williams, D.R. Harris Marlborough, Valobra stick, Speick stick. All of these are top notch IMO and will do well for you.

Colonel Conk Bay Rum was my first shaving soap and I was very happy with it.

My lord, too many to mention. Have a browse through the Soaps & Creams forum and you'll see what I mean. You could spend a lifetime experimenting.....

You need an audience w/ Obie. Obie talks to God about the topic. It might help to mention the kind of beard you have, skin, etc. He will forever be praised for his recommendation of the wonderful Provence Sante ($10 for a replacement puck). Guys that can afford it, all praise Martin de Candre.
    .
Though like Obie, I don't like the bother of the 'some assembly required' approach, Glen hit it outta the park w/ his Essential Oil soap/cream recipe. Its so good I'll put up w/ the assembly. So little cream is used, it should last through at least 3-4 pucks of soap. The soap is dirt cheap - less than Conk in most cases. Overall, it may be both the top 10 in lather and the top 10 in value. 'Very low 'per use' cost.
