Thanked: 44SRD vs MWF
How does the lather from the SRD glycerine soap compare to the lather from MWF ?
Ie MWF is 3 times the price for unscented. Does the razor glide significantly better ? Does the lather stay wet significantly longer ? Does the puck last a lot longer ?
Thanks.

The following is the opinion of a light user. That is to say, I am not a barber and have only lathered with the two mentioned products several dozen times at the most. Having said that, the MWF shaving soap puck lasts longer and it's more moisturizing. I don't think the lather stays wet significantly longer. The glide is comparable in my opinion
hope that helps
There are some in-depth reviews on the reviews link Straight Razor Place Reviews - Powered by vBulletin and of course many threads on the forum for past infoLast edited by hoglahoo; 01-17-2012 at 10:40 PM. Reason: added "shaving soap" to MWF to differentiate it between other MWF products such as the bath soap or sheep-shaped soap holder

John,
I have 3 different SRD glycerin soaps - West Indies Bay, Blood Orange, Lavender. The first 2 I've had for 1.5 year and the Lavender for ~6 mos. I just started using the MWF several months ago so I can't address the longevity of the MWF. However, I'm not even half-way through the West Indies Bay (one of my favorites) and Blood Orange. Realize that its hard for me to say how long the SRD soaps will last because I randomly rotate among my soaps. When it comes to marriage, I'm faithful, but when it comes to shaving soaps/creams, fidelity is not my strong suit.
As Glen said, apples & oranges. I love all of them and predict that I'll continue to hop from one bed to the next
Unless budget is an issue, why not join the ranks of the shaving-soap-promiscuous?

Thanked: 9Milled means the soap has been boiled with, generally, salt water to remove glycerin (aka glycerol) and other things from the soap, such as unsaponifiables. It's then dehydrated and passed through rolling pins to remove air bubbles and then formed.
MWF adds glycerin back in to their formulations some time after the boiling process and presumably lanolin and fragrances as well.
