    Default Williams Mug shave soap

Col. Conk shave soap has ingredients in it that allows you to melt it down, does anyone know if you can do the same with Williams Mug shave soap. I can't find anything that gives the ingredients to see if it's made with similar ingredients ?

I don't think you can melt Williams (I am probably wrong) but it might be easier to grate it down if you're looking to press it into a container.

J.B. Williams mug soap is a triple-milled, tallow-based soap that is not good for melting (it's kind of diametrically opposed to melt & pour soaps). Grating is a better method.

U2Bono269, you probably can melt Williams, question is would it remain the same consistency or have other issues? (i.e. separation)

take the advice above and use a cheese grater to get it to fit into whatever your using! the flakes of soap can easily be pressed and formed into any bowl or mug!

I have done it, the same way you can melt down old soap slivers into new bars of soap. I did it and added a little glycerin for good measure. How to Combine Soap Pieces | eHow.com

What you might do in lieu of melting Williams is to get a rubber Marvy shaving mug. It has a place at the bottom designed to fit a round cake of soap.

I have the Marvy rubber mug. It was my first mug and I travel with it (plus it is CHEAP). Williams is a little too big to fit inside the inner circle at the bottom, VDH fits a little better. With Williams best to grate it or go buy a small ramekin for about $2 at Walmart.

I just fit a Williams cake in the inner circle. Maybe the diameter was reduced.

EDIT: I stand corrected. It popped right in the inner circle all right, but it later popped out. The loose puck didn't interfere with my lathering, though, and it sure lathers well.

I would like to hear how you've melted Williams in a microwave or stove-top method, succesfully, and what you did with it.
