Thanked: 6New source for Fitjar Soaps in Manhattan
Got a Facebook note that Fitjar shaving soap is now available at the Pasteur Pharmacy in midtown Manhattan,
53 E 34th St.
My favorite, hope they have the Miklagard...if you haven't tried Fitjar, it's worth a look...

Thanks for the heads up, I'm hopefully going there tomorrow. As a relative newbie to shaving with a straight, I've really only tried the SRD lime soap. I'm hoping to expand my horizons. Anything in particular you appreciate about these kinds?

Thanked: 6Well, for the water we have in Yonkers, I get a real nice, thick lather. I also like that the soaps are made with essential oils, and without parabens, which are NOT good for you...pretty much all natural. I also like the scents, which are a little unusual, and some folks may not like.. but my wife does, so that is what matters...
BTW, Pasteur's is pretty cool, you'll be amazed at how much they pack into a little store...enjoy!Last edited by davemillard; 03-03-2012 at 05:54 AM. Reason: add comment

I have it in the Bay Rum scent and it is very nice. I thought the lather was a little on the lighter side compared to an English triple Milled Soap but still a very high quality soap well worth having.

Thanked: 6One thing I really like about their products are that they do not use ingredients that are widely recognized in medical journals as not being good for you, especially the paraben and methylparaben ingredients found in so many shaving soaps. They use essential oils for fragrance, which I really like as well. And you can email the maker of these soaps if you wish to ask questions. Jorunn is very responsive to emails...I think she may be a member of this forum as well..

I have the Fjellheim, which I probably spelled wrong but am too lazy to correct at the moment.
I think it's a quality product. It's as if you cut down a cedar tree and placed your nose directly on the top of the stump. Very pleasing smell that reminds me of some of my favorite places in the world.
