    Default Proraso: Green Vs. Red

I've never tried the Proraso Red, but have been considering ordering some. What is the difference between it and the Proraso green? Is it just that the green is mentholated, while the red isn't?

    Joe,

I've only used the green tube, but you might find this thread helpful:

I think the red is their "sensitive skin" wheat germ mix, isn't it? But they aren't making it any more, AFAIK.

Yeah, I've tried both as well - and they do both have eucalyptus and (I believe) menthol. The red has wheat germ oil to add some conditioning for sensitive skin. I like the red a bit better for that reason, but honestly (depending on your water quality/hardness) I don't notice a huge difference between the two... I do feel like a Proraso shave is very refreshing without being overly tingly. I like it for occasional use, and it's my primary travel prep product due to the convenience of the tube.

Jscott sent me some to try. I love it!. The scent was a bit offputting at first, but I quickly got used to it. The later was amazing. Used my first (and most likely, only) silvertip brush with it (a Rooney Izlat traded me) and got incredible lather. I don't know if the Rooney is a "true" silvertip, but I love it just the same, and the Proraso Red is really great stuff! Thanks, jscott, for giving me some to try, and to Izlat for trading me the brush.

I haven't verified that it is in stock, but Lee at www.leesrazors.com has it on his website. I've done business with Lee multiple times and have always been very satisfied.

Unless they discontinued it very recently it's still made. I was in Italy this summer and it's available there in every chemist or grocery store, for one or two euros.
