Default Art of Shaving shave kit

I just bought a 'sample' size kit from Art of Shaving which has pre-shave lotion, soap, a small brush, and after shave lotion. Aside from the brush (which I did not use as I have a nicer one) I really liked the kit. I never use pre-shave lotion so that was nice and my soap is $5 soap, nothing special. After using this kit I see that I need to take my shaving up a notch, it was really nice. This kit was $25 and it includes a $25 coupon for the full size kit which is $100. Are there better kits for the price? I have no experience with the higher end stuff. I don't mind spending the $75 on the full size kit if it's on par with anything else out there for the price. What are your thoughts?

Daines and Hatheway make a nice military leather wet kit.

the AOS products are very nice. there aren't too many pre-assembled "kits" that include pre-shave, shave cream/soap? , after shave. You might go proraso as they have a product in each similar category.. but you'd be buying them a la carte.

i think people end up mixing and matching or buying similarly scented (even brand) cream/soap and aftershave/edt and maybe forgo a pre-shave oil...

I think that 75 bucks for a full size kit from AOS is a fair price. They've got really nice products, about a year ago I purchased the lavender full size kit, and I have finished all of the products and the brush still works perfectly since it is a pure badger brush. I would say, go for it.

How did you get the $25 coupon? Was it in the pack or was it a special they ran? Also did you buy it at an AOS store or Macys/Nordstroms? Thanks in advance

The $25 coupon is included with the $25 sample pack so in essence, if you buy the $100 full pack you got the $25 sample for free. 5 got it at an actual AOS store in Annapolis.

I am a fan of AoS and I think it's a great way to "up your game." It's "pampering" having the whole kit! : )

That said, eventually you'll learn how to pamper your face via product without having to go the kit route. There are a ton of great products out there. Some cheaper, some more expensive. Temperatures are a large determinant as to what I use.

I really like the AOS shave creams but make my own shave oil. I don't think you'll find much better in a kit, but that is all subjective. Eventually you will find what you like and assemble the products. Until then enjoy trying different products, it makes things interesting.

Darn! AoS pulled out of the UK market more than a year ago now... their Ingrown Hair cream was perfect!
