Thanked: 0Shaving Cream Help
Im sorry if this has been addressed already, but I havent found it yet. Would regular shaving cream like Barbasol work for shaving with a straight razor? If anything to start off with? Also for cheapest price to performance wwhich is the best soap or cream? What is the biggest difference between the 2 other than the obvious?

Yes, Barbasol, or canned goo as we call it here, will work, but you may find that the fun of this hobby is experimenting with different products to see what you like best. A good and inexpensive cream to try is C.O. Bigelow, which can be found at Bath & Body Works. It comes in 2 different sizes and will last awhile as you only need a small amount to make a decent amount of lather.

Had a difficult experience with the Barbasol Therapeutic Shave Cream today. That's the one in the soft tube. A major '0' as far as shaving goes. Wouldn't brush lather and wouldn't hand lather when applied to my face either. Had to stitch to another soap to shave with.

Barbasol will work, somewhat at least, but a soap or cream is a better choice for a straight razor shave.
It lubricates better, and will leave you skin feeling much better. IMHO.
Rearden's suggestion is a good one, another readily available option is the Maca-Root cream from The Body Shop.
A very fine shaving cream with a decent price-tag.
