Thanked: 2Calling all kiwis - regarding shaving creams
Hi I am new to the straight razor world and need some advice on what type of shaving cream I should buy and where to get it in New Zealand

What you buy is like everything else in this wonderful world of wet shaving - it's what suits your face/skin type and what you can get a good lather from.
Having never been to Un Zud, I don't have a clue what is available, however, if you have a Coles over there, Gaia is a cream I like. It's cheap enough and it lathers well.
Another old standby is Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap, which I find quite good and is the one I use when shave testing razors, 'cause I know it well and can get a consistant lather with it.
Hopefully, Eisenfaust will chime in with more information.
Check out the 'Down Under' forum as well as it has some good info for us down this end of the world.
BTW welcome to SRP - glad to have you aboard - we need more Kiwi's to hang s^&t on.....hehehehe

there are 3 online site in NZ. The mancave has the largest selection.
GREAT LUXURY GIFT IDEAS FOR MEN , shaveshop and goodfellas.
the english shaving company is doing free shipping worldwide at the moment so could be worth a look.

+1 for mancave.co.nz - some things are expensive, but still a damn sight cheaper than the handful of physical stores that carry high quality goods (I'm looking at you hairdresser/laundry place in Wellington - $160+ for a pot of Truefill and Hill)
Good luck!

Thanked: 2thanks for web sites but would like to find a shop that I can go into and smell some of the products as I am new to the older style creams and don't know what they smell like, e.g. sandalwood.
I don't want to make an expensive purchase only to find I can not stand the smell haha
I am in Hamilton anyone know of anything even just to get familiar with the scents??
