    Default Does MWF go bad?

I have had this puck of MWF for maybe 5 months. Overthe last few weeks, it has developed patches of discolored areas. For a reference, it looks similar to a block of blue cheese. I don't store it wet. It usually sits out for at least 3-4 hours to air dry before I put it away. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Your soap is rabid! Keep it away from light!

No, honestly, I don't know. I'm interested, though, because I'm about to buy a puck and try it myself.

Ive had my puck close to a year and it looks horrible, cracked and a little discolored , but it still lathers like a champ.

MWF pucks I've had have cracked and shrunk but I don't recall them changing color to the extent that they looked like blue cheese. Could it be the container it is in or something to do with your water ?

IIRC the MWF package says it is good for 36 months. Like thewatermark, my puck is well over 2 years old and has surface cracks but it still performs like it did on day 1. I have never seen patches of blue on a soap before though. You might want to be a little concerned in case it is mould or some kind of fungus. FWIW I shave at night and let my soaps dry out overnight while I sleep. Haven't had any issues so far. You might want to give it a little more drying time.

My puck is about 2 years or a tad over that by now, and it still performs exactly as the day I got it.

I've kept it in the ceramic container throughout that entire time.
I let it dry for about half an hour after use before putting the lid back on.

What are you storing it in? if its one of the black wooden tubs, it may just be the black colour from the tub I have that if I turn my puck upside down, I dont even let it dry I store it away straight after using it and its fine after a year and a half.

    Does it still lather ok?

    Gentlemen,
My Mitchell's Wool Fat, perhaps a couple years old and full of cracks, still creates magical lather. There's something to be said about a first class shave soap.
