Thanked: 1587I've found anything without scent works well with my sensitive skin, but perhaps that does not apply to everyone.
The best advice I can give you is to try as many kinds of soaps and or creams as you can. Many places offer samples too, so give that a go.
Good luck.

Like Jimbo said, try as many soaps and creams as you can afford. Some will work better than others for you. One inexpensive cream to try is the Real Shave Co Sensitive formula. It smells like s#!+ but is really great for sensitive skin.

I've been SR shaving for awhile and used lots of different things, I have a slight preferance creams when my skin is feeling dried out or sensitive. I find art of shaving lemon cream is awesome on my skin, aswell as proraso creams or soaps never fail either. I'd also highly suggest proraso pre/post balm before you shave while your getting your lather ready. Make sure your using HOT water as it makes a big difference. and ill usually splash cold water on my face immediately following finishing my shave, Then splash some thayers witchhazel on.
Preparing your face for the shave is half the battle when it comes to sensitive skin, Hot towel/shower, pre balm and hot lather works awesome for me, hope this helps.

Way to foster SAD early!!!!!
That hapened to me and now the shelves are full of soaps and creams.
OK now to answer the question. TOBS Jermyn Street is their sensitive skin soap and cream. Great stuff and smells awesome. Personally, I think AOS soap/cream is cr*p and just gave a tub of it away Ocean kelp cream. Smells exactly like DR Harris Arligton but with crappy lather. YMMV Keep in mind I like lather that is like whipped cream. Thick and holds together. AOS is shiny and loose with poor cushion. Again YMMV

Thanked: 1195I would recommend Mitchell's Wool Fat, which is one of the finest skin conditioning soaps out there IMO. It does contain lanolin and I realize that some people are sensitive to that, but if lanolin is not a problem for you I think you have a winner.

Soap is the classic way to do it. Cream is for lazy people.

Thanked: 13249I have to second Ryan's suggestion MWF is a solid performer and unless you have a Lanolin sensitivity it will be hard to beat
In general
Soaps lean toward giving better Glide
Creams lean toward better Cushion
Personally I prefer making an actual Überlather over any single soap or cream... Soap + Cream + about 5 drops of Glycerin = Shaving Nirvana...

Thanked: 0You may already know this, but lanolin is wool fat. (Lanolin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

If you opt for MWF, get it in it's ceramic container. Hydrate the soap and use a boar brush. Good luck!
