Thanked: 0I plan on making some soap, if it all goes well and I can get a really nice scent, I'm thinking of perhaps selling some!

Good luck! In the beginning start small, you can scale up later. I'm not sure I'd say saturated, but the market is definitely headed that way.
shaving soap on Etsy, a global handmade and vintage marketplace.

Thanked: 0In terms of product I would say it's very saturated, especially from looking at Etsy, but there is a lack of advertising, If you sold it in the street or a market I'm sure it would really sell. (especially in a natural products market)

Come to find our it's actually illegal in my state to make and sell soap containing any ingredient classified by the FDA as being a drug without a license. And you can't get a license for a residential address. So, for instance, that melt & pour soap base above would be off limits because it contains sorbitol, without a dedicated lab to produce it in. It seems Lye based soaps would be ok due to its classification.
Check your state laws. If its legal in your state don't forget liability insurance in case someone has a reaction to one of your products and sues.

Thanked: 0I will check the legality of it before I go ahead, luckily though I live in the UK where less ingredients are banned and people aren't sue-happy.
