    Default Colonel Conk

I've been using Col. Conk shave soap for the past three months, and absolutely LOVE it. It loads up on the brush well, and makes an incredibly creamy lather in my bowl. I whip up a batch, and always have more than enough to make three passes with my straight du' jour.

I can't believe I didn't see any other postings about it, or maybe these get archived after a point?

At any rate, I highly recommend this to anyone. It comes in a small and large size, and the bay rum has the most pleasant scent. I've yet to try the Lime or other scents, but if the soap formula is the same, you're in for a great shave.

I used to use Col Conk quite a bit. I liked the Bay Rum and the Amber(especially the Amber).

We have discussed Conk quite a bit. It's one of the lower tier soaps. I used it years ago and found it kind of lacking. I liked the scent of the Amber. It falls into the category of soaps that "do the job".

I have used the lime and bay rum, the results have varied for me. I like the scents but have been using other soaps to build lather and then add some of the Col. to give it the scent I want.
It's just corn syrup... Warm, blood flavored, corn syrup ...

I used it also, but found it dried out too quickly. Great smell on the bay rum, and lathers pretty good, just gets sticky very quickly.

Hmm... I have a puck of the Conk amber that I haven't tried yet. I believe you have inspired me to give it a go.

I'm a big fan of the almond. Smells terrific and performs well. I had trouble lathering the lime for some reason. I'm not huge on citrus.

I tried the Conk amber because I loved the smell. When I shaved with it I found it irritated my face rather badly.
At first I assumed it was technique but I tried it as a shower soap and it had the same effect. Redness and prickly feelings (I probably shouldn't have tested it by washing my whole body with it...oh retrospect).
It seems to be quite popular so I don't think it's fundamentally bad soap...it just didn't work for me.
Has anyone else had a similar reaction? I wondered if it was something specific to the amber but couldn't justify buying another puck based on my initial experience.

I scooped up a puck of Conk amber for $4 at a local shop, mostly because I was curious about the scent. It's good, but not great. Priced exactly as it should be, imho. Now, if you want to really indulge yourself with a glycerine-based soap, I've got just two words: "Mama Bear's!" Well worth the extra few bucks.

    Cheers!
