Default Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood (one tube is enough for me)

The purpose of this thread is to gather some impressions on the GFT sandalwood cream. As some of you have gathered from my other posts I rather enjoy sandalwood scented creams and have posted my experiences with a few. Here is what I have learned from this tube of GFT.

    1. GFT is a reputable cream, however their interpretation of sandalwood smells to me like a wet ash tray. Something in this formula is fighting with the sandalwood scent and producing a rather odd result.

    2. I needed more than an almond size to get my uberlather, even with an Omega synthetic, but the result is an excellent cream.

    3. By the third pass I often got a tingling sensation, almost like a reaction to the ingredients.

Does anyone else concur with my experience or perhaps have another viewpoint on the GFT sandalwood formulation? I must say with regret that one tube has been enough for me.

I've been using GFT for a very very long time and have noticed some re-formulations down the road. The sandalwood cream is still in my rotation. I don't experience the tingling experience ( I do have sensitive skin) and my lather just explodes with an almond size. Off course this variable can easily be pinpointed to my softened water (or even different water) and maybe my 2 band Thater brush. I still enjoy the scent but much prefer the older version of the cream. There's no doubt the scent isn't what it used to be.

That sentence says it all. You're having a allergic reaction to it, and that alone should be enough to toss it, not to mention you have a personal dislike of the scent. It's not the cream for you. You can always PIF it or put it up in the classifieds, I'm sure someone would take it off your hands.

You may be right. However, it was not so bad that I could not finish the tube. In all fairness I thought I should at least give it the full evaluation. I suffered no redness or long-term ill affects.

I got a whole bunch of samples from GFT and didn't care for most of it. I did not have a bad reaction to the sandalwood I will agree about needing more product and not liking the scent. I had to use the entire sample to get a good lather, which is more than I normally use with any other cream. I also wasn't impressed with the scent. While not an ashtray, I have to say I much prefer TOBS and T&H better. Overall I'm not a fan of GFT but I don't see that being a huge loss seeing as the prices make me think twice about buying their products anyway.

I haven't had the same experience with the ''tingling sensation'', although I do agree with you on the scent.
