Default Did I get a bad batch of C.O. Bigelow?

I recently bought from a store, three large tubes the same looking C.O. Bigelow I've been using for years. One to give away, one to use freely, and one to keep on to if they stopped making it. The problem is the smell. This stuff smells the same -but different, and not in a good way. Does anyone know if they reinvented the formula, or if anyone else has noticed something different about this stuff?

I haven't bought any for a while but I sure hope they didn't "New and Improve" the stuff. That is nearly always the end of the line of a product. I think sometimes, their is some new executive who needs to validate his position, and figures out how to cut costs in making their product, and simply messes it up. I sure hope that is not the case here because that is one of my favorites.

I might be wrong, but I thought I read a thread here a couple of months ago asking the same thing. If I recall one of the replies insists the C.O. Bigelow foruma had recently changed. If that's true then it's a shame. Don't fix something that's not broken.

Yes, I had this problem recently.
C.O. Bigelow is my daily creme. The tube I just finished, smelled differently, not "fresh". I could stand it, but I just used it up quicker than usual by doubling the amount. I hate to waste anything. The tube I started this week is right on the money, smells as it should.

A contact at Bath & Body Works said that they are considering a "Buy 2 , Get 2 Free", instead of the Buy 2 get 1 free special they usually have, for the month of October. Keep your eyes open in October.

Maybe the smell changed because the C.O. Bigelow shaving cream is rebranded from the Proraso Green, and this one has just changed ("improved") it's formula a new months ago.

I've noticed it too...all three of the tubes I purchased a couple months ago have an 'off' scent....almost like the same thing just a little musty like it had gotten old. Still works exactly the same.

The same thing happened to me earlier this year. I got a large tube that had a really strong smell. I mentioned to the store employee next time and she said bring it back, no problem. I did and they let me exchange it for a new one. I opened every tube, and found one with a better scent. I think there are just differences from batch to batch. This was before the new formulation hit the shelves. I would definitely open a few tubes before buying.

If they are considering a 2 for 2, might mean they've been sitting on a large inventory of it and now they want it to move.

Probably so, for sure I am going to open the cap and smell it before I buy it. I don't want something that has been sitting for many years.

All three of the large tubes I bought have that old off smell as described. Lame. But I did use the stuff to clean my shoes before I shined them up yesterday. Great stuff for leather!!
