Here is a trick I think works makes the soap so much easier to use, while in the shower soak ur Mwf and your shaving brush in a sink of warm water. When u get out of the shower remove soap and brush from sink and lather away..works awesome..How To Lather Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap - YouTube

I have hard water, so it takes a bit of extra work, but MWF does make a good lather. I'd rank it on par with soaps like Tabac and DR Harris.

Late to the party but I just got a shipment of 5 different soaps in to try, MWF being one of them. They arrived too late for use this morning but I did test lather them all and all were easy to lather. I used an SOC 2 band badger brush dunked in cold water and shaken well out on a dry MWF puck. Loaded the brush for less than a minute and started face lathering on my cold water whetted face adding water as I went by dipping the tips of the brush in cold water. Easily created large amounts of thick rich slick feeling lather. Can't wait to see how it performs during a shave tomorrow morning.

I couldn't get a good lather with MWF 'till I stumbled across this method: soak brush then shake out the bulk of the water, load brush letting excess drip into bowl...do this until you have about a ping pong ball size of lather in the bowl. Then load brush fully and go to the bowl and build lather. The entire process takes 60-90 seconds. This works especially well in a hot scuttle. For some reason the MWF really tightens up when it transforms from hot to cool. I've always heard that MWF doesn't like heat, but the opposite is true for me. As it cools off, it gets really tight and heavy, with an almost yogurt like density. It's all I want to use now..I love the "clean laundry" scent.
