Best Etsy Shave Products?
I found Madame Scodioli on Etsy after somebody posted about her soap in the Shave Of The Day thread. I went up a level into the handmade soap category and found hundreds of products. There seems to be little differentiation in the soaps at least - most use a cold process, tallow or glycerin or both - and many use bentonite or kaolin clay.
Has anyone got experience in these matters? Which are good which are arts&craftsy (well intentioned but incompetent) and what of these clays everyone is using but aren't to be found in expensive products of good repute?

I am now shaving with artifact soaps Old Spice scent shave Puck. Found them on eBay great stuff. Leave your face feeling nice and soft with plenty of cushion for the shave.

Best Etsy Shave Products?
I'm a self profess soap whore. I have bought from 3 different unknown craftsman/woman and have not been impress with them. It is such a hit and miss that unless it is ultra cheap or word of mouth, I don't bother anymore. I given away all the five soaps I have bought from etcy or e-bay from three different craftspeople.
For example MNS (Mike Natural Soap) uses kaolin clay, one e-bay soap I bought used the same, both are made at home sort of thing, but they are night and day apart from performance and scents. Double O

I bought two soaps from Mundus on Etsy and was very impressed with both of them. Thick lather and long lasting enough for two passes. The varieties I bought were Eucalyptus and Addictive, both were very nice fragrances. So I guess my experience on Etsy has been much better than Double's.

Thanked: 375The only soap that I've purchased that wasn't made in some factory and works is Mike's natural soaps & Portland general store. I've tried Madame Scodioli and was not impressed at all, it was basically very strong smelling bath soap, mind you I'm only talking about the shave soap stuff, the AS was fine. I would like to hear some more feedback on Mundus's soaps and creams, I've eyeballed the soap/cream for awhile and am a little gun shy after my last purchase from the Madame.
On another note I'm working with a local soaper so she can get her shave soap up to snuff (she's on Etsy), I'm on the second puck and still no luck....it doesn't lather or I should say it lathers and breaks down right away. Hopefully when I tell her she'll keep trying and won't get frustrated, her soap is very very slick otherwise and works great with a DE but a straight is a different story.

YMMV, and my artisan product knowledge is purely second hand, but in terms of the non glycerin based artisan soaps, the ones I have generally heard pretty good things about are Mike's Natural Soaps, Prairie Creations, and St Charles Soaps. There is a UK based one c that gets pretty good reviews over there, as well, but I don't recall the name.

Thanked: 18From Mundus, I have a couple of soaps (Brave and Citrus and sandalwood) and 3 aftershaves (Brave, Bay Rum and Citrus and Sandalwood) on the way, heard that they are very good stuff. I'll give you my input once I have tried them
