A puck of Mitchell's can be had for better than the 20 bucks for Classic Brand Wool Fat Soap. This stuff (Classic Wool Fat) is a bit of an enigma for me - I bought a puck of the Black Lavender a while ago, and it is the one soap that I most want to like but can't. IMHO, it is the most interesting, longest lasting scent in a soap I have encountered. Hours after a shave it was the black lavender soap, not my aftershave (regardless of brand) I would smell if I rubbed my face. The problem was performance - I could never get it to lather well and I was never satisfied with its cushion or glide. Not to highjack, but if someone has the secret, please let me know. Mitchell's is by far the better performer (and less expensive), but I will stick by my opinion on the scent, the Classic Brand Wool Fat Black Lavender scent is absolutely top notch.

As for the regular Classic Brand soaps - I have 5 (I think) assorted pucks. Classic Shaving was the first vendor I became familiar with when I started down this road, and since they are inexpensive, I bought a bunch from the get-go. Having tried a bunch of different soaps since then, my opinion is that the scents of the Classic soaps are very good to great whereas the performance is only good. If I were to judge from a price-point stance, I would say the soaps are an excellant buy, especially if experiencing different smells from day to day is a big part of your enjoyment in this hobby.
