Recently acquired soaps/brushes (Original Old Spice)
So I recently acquired a couple shave brushes from Grandpa (one used one new and in box) but both seem to be of less than stellar quality. Also 3 soaps still in box, 1 Williams and 2 Burma-Shaves. I haven't used either, but I will eventually give them a try.
My biggest concern and probably the best find is the unused Old Spice soap in the original Old Spice mug (and lid - crappy lid, but there nonetheless). My question is, do I use the Old Spice soap??? I thought this stiff was discontinued..? Although I am relatively young and wasn't there to witness Old Spice's triumphs and discontinuations. So should I dip in to the old spice soap?? It still has the ship imprint on the soap puck which you can kind of see in the picture.
Also, can anyone comment on the Old Spice, Williams, and Burma Shave soaps?
Thanks Gents!!

Great stuff, nice to have something to remember your granddad when you shave! I've always found the old stuff tends to be far from amazing quality wise but the fact that it's still going speaks volumes.
My dad had an Oldspice mug like many, I too own one now. I'd say enjoy the Old Spice on special occasions. It's been discontinued in pucks as far as I know but I doubt you'll one day be able to retire if you save it and sell in future. Just enjoy it I'd say. If it starts to lose it's kick you could always add a drop or two of O/S aftershave when lathering.
The Williams might be better than the current stuff if it's old. I used a new puck recently for old time's sake and it can be worked into a useable lather even with hard water, it just takes longer than others. Some despise the scent but I love it, just like Old Spice. Never tried Burma Shave so I can't comment on that one...keep us posted if you use any of it and how you find the lather/scents compared to new stock!

Those are all good shaving soaps, and those two boar brushes are fine, they will work really well with those soaps. Load up those brushes with any of those soaps, then build the lather on your face. You can add hot water to the brush from the faucet as you build the lather. All three will produce a good, slick lather for your shave.
I still use Williams which I keep in my dad's old Burma Shave mug, and I, at times, prefer it to the high end soaps and creams that I have. My dad used Old Spice and Burma soaps most of his life. (along with a DE razor) Good stuff.

Hay Bro.... I don't think your Grandpa wants the soap back! LOL I'm with Sasquatch on this one. Go lock yourself the bathroom and have a great shave, then thank him again for it, he gave it to you to use and I think you'll like it. Also the Williams is pretty good my sons use it, you can get it at Wally World. The Old Spice A/S is the one thats put me in mind of my Grandpa it's what he wears so........it's what I wear.

Burma Shave was last nights choice. Performed quite nice I thought, felt and looked like a king! I will use the Old Spice when I can get to the store and grab some after shave to match!
