Default Homemade soap, how's it look?

I'm new to both wet shaving and soap making, but nonetheless decided to give shave soap a go. I like the results a lot, but I don't really have anything to compare it to... I've only used some cheap "natural" stuff since my first shave with Dr. Harris, and I didn't really know what I was doing then.

It works way better than the cheap soap I have, but that's not saying much. The lather reminds me of cool whip and it just doesn't go away--there's still some sitting atop my toe that fell ~20 minutes ago when I lathered up.

Here's a picture of the lather on my face (sorry I didn't get one of the soap on the brush, maybe tomorrow):

So, I know it's hardly enough to say definitively, but how does that lather look?

If you're interested, the recipe was 70% veg stearic acid, 15% palm, and 15% coconut with soapcalc's lye/water amounts (38%).

Nevermind guys, some Razorock came in the mail today so I have something to compare it to. Can't wait for the evening shave

It looks very thin to me, it might work well with a DE but it doesn't look like it'd have a lot of cushion; which is important for SR shaving...Hard to tell of course without actually using it...

Thanks Carl, you're right; I whipped up some of the RR this evening to compare. The consistency was about the same, but the RR was a lot more slippery and layered on my face thicker. Twas just an experiment, even on a college budget decent shave soap is cheap for how long it lasts, but I might as well keep trying (it costs ~40 cents for 200g).

    Thanks for the reply.

I shave more often with a DE than I do with a SR but, to me that lather looks a little thin for a DE even.
