Thanked: 44Mid-Priced Creams
I'm currently using Porasso cream (old formulation) for SR shaves.
I like that it stays wet a lot longer than MWF soap, but would like a little more of MWF's slickness / cushion.
I tried the SRD melt-n-pour soap, but liked the slickness / cushion of MWF better.
SRD sells a lot of creams in the 10-15 price range.
Are any better than Porasso ?
Thanks.

Thanked: 1195SRD's products are actually soaps, not creams, and are good products.
I think you might have to be a bit more specific about your price range. Afterall, in the scheme of things even Castle Forbes could be considered mid-priced compared to some.

Thanked: 44Creams
I have only tried the 2 soaps (SRD and MWF), and 1 cream (Porasso).
I'm considering creams in the $10-15 range.
Based on my comments about my likes/dislikes with the soaps and creams I've tried - is there another cream I'm likely to like better than Porasso ? TOBS, DR Harris, Tabac, Mugso, etc ?
Thanks.

I find that, in general, creams tend to have more cushion while soaps tent to be slicker. Not that I've tried them all, mind you.
Über lather, a lather made by combining soap and cream, is/was a relatively common way to improve while using what you already have. Some would even add a little extra glycerin.

Thanked: 2284If its creams specific your looking for, at a good price, then its hard to beat TOBS. The price vs function of the cream is amazing. Now your problem will be picking a scent, there's 12. Id go for the Almond, shave shop, sandalwood, or avocado. Best thing is to read about the scents, pick one and dive in. Just my 2 cents. It really comes down to personal preference, which is different for everyone.

My favorite shaving cream line is Nancy Boy. I'm sensitive to scents but the Nancy Boy shaving creams and after shaves don't bother me. If you become a member they take almost $3 off each tub of shaving cream you buy. If you don't mind Soaps, try the SRD brand. I got a tub of the unscented and I think it's great.

Thanked: 1195Any of those brands would be an excellent choice and are likely to please you more than Proraso. Based on full sized containers I have to agree with the previous member that TOBS is best bang for your buck. I would also recommend Speick.
Something else for your consideration: buy the smaller tube (as opposed to the tub) or the travel size, which will open the door to several other brands that would have otherwise been out of your price range (Trumpers, DR Harris, Castle Forbes etc).

One other thing to consider when using creams, you only need a snurdle to make enough lather for 3 passes, so the tubs do last a loooooong time. I have a tub of Truefitt & Hill unscented I've been using for over 3 years now (about half full still) so I figure over that amount of time means it's a mid-price cream that's well worth the money
