Thread: Christmas shave courtesy Highlander

Today I tried out one of Colleen's soaps for the first time. I got some samples a couple of weeks back, and my wife picked out the Highlander based on the scent.

I lathered up by putting the soap in my mug, doing about 30 swirls with my wet brush, and then lathering on my face.

The lather was fabulous--much slicker and thicker than the other soaps and creams I've tried. The bubbles were so tiny that it didn't even look like lather--more like Cool Whip.

It did seem to need more water than I'd been using with my last soap. On my first pass, I found the thin layer I'd spread on my upper lip started to dry out. I've been shaking my brush out pretty good, so I'll have to change that. I dipped the tips of my brush in some water and the situation improved.

I got the best shave I've had yet. Colleen's soap is far and away the best I've tried. When I finished up my wife came up to me and said, "You smell manly."

The Highlander's one of my favorites too, followed closely by Colleen's Savon de Comte. Both have a clean, fresh scent without being overpowering.

I prefer other scents from Colleen's lineup but they all have 1 thing in common: Superb shavers

I'm still using the "sample" size soap, and I've hardly put a dent in it. At this rate it's going to last me at least six weeks. This is good for my budget, but it means it's going to take me almost a year to get through all the samples I ordered... Which means I won't have a reason to order more...

Colleen, you need to follow the example of the cigarette companies, who make their products burn even when you're not smoking them. A 3 oz. piece of soap should last no more than three weeks.

Oh no, don't encourage that. I have enough soap that immediately dissolves on contact. You could just shave more, maybe there's a pet around the house with too much hair? (j/k). Though I do put more of a dent in my Williams shaving my head once than I do shaving my face a few times....

LOL...well now, isn't this interesting! I do know of some shaving soaps that don't last very long...but I always liked it that mine last a good bit, being a country girl I still believe in getting your monies worth. Which leads me to the next tid bit.....

My prices are getting ready to go up Gentlemen....and you may well be very pleased that they last a long time! at least it makes me feel a little less guilty about the price hike.

I just put up a notice (new thread) in the Vendor's category. Perhaps folks should take a look.

Thanks for the heads up O' Bubbley One, I'm set for a while longer (plus Christmas was a bit expensive). Still my favorite soaps so I know you know I'll be back for more.

Edit: Well, that lasted just long enough for me to look through my lists and send the email for my next order. I wanted to try a few new scents anyway and I can ALWAYS use more Highlander.

I can't wait. Someone just sent me their sample of Highlander and I'm soo pumped. I loved Colleen's samples when I just started out but haven't been able to justify buying anymore of her stuff untill I run out of my older soaps and creams. Maybe I should put some things up for sale.....

Glad I placed that order with Colleen when I did. The morning after we confirmed my order I was whipping up my lather and there it was ... the dreaded tear across my one and only puck of Highlander!!! At this point I'm down to three little chips of soap that are so small I had to transfer them into a small plastic cup to squeeze out the last three bubbles. Hopefully my order is either sitting at the apartment office or will arrive soon - I haven't been able to get out and check the mail lately as I'm still homebound due to surgical recovery. I've got other soaps left (two Savon de Comte and one Gent's Oak & Moss) but it's just not the same! For now I've loaded the Oak & Moss back in the Latte mug and I'll finish that off as it's the closest I've got to Highlander.

I did order a few new scents to try out though:
Highlander (2 of course)
Cavendish Black (It's all Ilija's fault!)
Provence Lavender
Bay Rum w/ Sweet Orange

And some bath soaps for my wife ... "Look Honey, I got something for you too!"
Blackberry Sage
Autumn Spice

Who needs crack when we've got Colleen?
