Default Every Man Jack shave cream?

So today I stopped in at Target to look for a few things. I picked up a Van Der Hagen pure badger hair brush (at $10 I figured it was worth a shot) as well as a tube of EMJ shave cream in their "mint" scent. It was only about $6 for a tube of it and I figured I would give it a try with the VDH soap puck I've been using to see how it works out.

Has anyone every used EMJ products and are they any good?

I bought the Van der Hagen brush, as my first. It loses a lot of bristles compared to a nicer brush, but it certainly is a functional brush. Unfortunately, I haven't used the EMJ shaving cream. Let us know what you think of it. I'm always looking for good, inexpensive soaps.

Well I've had a VDH boars hair for a while now, and while it has lost quite a few bristles over the year or so I've had it, its still in good working order. I didnt hold much hope for the $10 Target brush when I bought it, but at about 1/3 the price of even the cheapest "nicer" brush, I figured I would give it a shot. I havent used it yet, but feel alone the badger is alot softer than the boars hair.

I also havent tried out the EMJ cream yet, but I did do some searching about it last night and it seems to be a decent bargain brand shave cream. I know from rubbing a little on my fingers yesterday that it seems to be a pretty slick shaving cream. Im hoping that coupled with the soap pucks it will make a nice lather.

Between all of these new purchases and the two vintage English straights I've purchased in the last week, I can see that this will end up taking a good chunk of money as my way of "spoiling" myself. lol

Awesome, thats good information to know. This stuff seems to be a pretty decent product. I went and picked up a new bowl for mixing my shaving cream and Im going to have a shave in the morning. I'll definitely keep yall posted as to how it works out.

Ok, so this morning I use my EMJ shave cream for the first time with very pleasant results. I used about a quarter sized about in the bottom of my lather mug I bought yesterday. I loaded up my brush with VDH soap and began mixing my lather. It came out to be very nice and "fluffy" I guess you could say. It was a pretty thick lather, much better than soap alone. I think next time I am going to try putting just a bit of some baby oil in to see if that will help make it slicker. But over all I was pretty impressed and dont know why I hadnt used this stuff before. For the price it seems to be a good product.
