Dr Harris Uber Lather
I think I am going to try this with Dr Harris soap and cream. I have had some trouble making a nice thick lather with just soap and it is becoming a bit discouraging. Learning to get a good shave with a straight is hard enough, I'd like the lather to come a little easier.I have hard water, so maybe an uber lather is the way to go. I would like to try Dr Harris because I have read good things about it and it seems that a tube of cream and some soap won't break the bank.
Anyway, has anybody done this with Dr Harris? Also, I do enjoy some fragrance in my cream/soap, but nothing so strong it will interfere with my aftershave (Clubman, AV, SCS New Spice). Any suggestions on Dr Harris scents?
Thanks everybody.--Sig

I've not had any problems lathering DRH soaps. I've had trouble with others but not these. Like any soap, a good/long period of loading the brush is necessary. But with DRH you should begin to make rich lather quickly. I let it run off into my mug and work it back in after my brush is fully loaded. As for scents, I prefer Marlborough. But with any of the DHR soaps, I don’t think that you’ll find that the scent lingers on your face after a rinse. Marlborough is a great, masculine scent smelling strong of cedar. Arlington, my second choice, has a citrus/fern scent. But if scent is an issue, I’m sure you can always lean on the standard almond. I hope they work as well for you as they have for me. I consider them the finest available.

I use Dr Harris and have found it to be a high grade soap. It lathers easily but of course I have a water softener.
I didn't think you had really hard water in New Orleans. If hard it's probably only mildly so.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Most of Louisiana has soft water ( As well as most of the South), the very southeastern portion of Louisiana has pretty hard water though. Not quite as hard as in the Rocky Mountain region, but still hard. I've been using Mama Bear's Soaps and while I haven't been doing this for that long, maybe only a month, I still feel I shouldn't be having this much trouble creating a nice thick lather.
