Default shaving cream and balm baume.be

    Hi all,

here is my experience with those 2 products, you can get them here : BAUME.BE | Home page

the shaving cream is one of the best I have try, giving you a rich lather, very protective, lather does not dry during the shaving process and give you a super slide.

it's difficult for me to describe scent to you with my poor english but it's a damn fine scent, something modern and complex like penhaligon's, there is a real work between this product !

the balm is as good as the cream, keep your skin hydrated and cool for the rest of the day

you can't go wrong with these ones !

    All the best

    Hi Chris,

I have both products as well.

The balm is ... just perfect, I haven't used another since I bought that one.

I'm personally not that pleased with the shaving cream though. I find it a pity it doesn't have the same scent as the balm, and technically I have the impression you need quite a lot of it to have enough lather for a shave - compared to my benchmarks creams Castle Forbes and Blenheim Bouquet.
But I have to test the shaving cream further.

    About the same here,

    The balm is really good.
For the cream i think it's high quality (compared with the other cream's i have) but i do not like the scent.
And I would like the cream to be a bit more solid.

I know nothing about the products but their marketing group could use a little help. All the men in the online ad either have full beards or a good deal of scruff! LOL They look more like potential customers. In any case, I'm always interested in trying a new product.

Dieter and Chris, what other creams have you tried ?

... and, by the way, I discovered that the Essenza stores store a Superb product: Scottish Fine Soaps. You can either buy a refill, or a full set including ceramic shaving bowl.

I had the same remark as you
His explanation is that he wanted mature looking guys, not the typical youngish girly men with 2 or 3 hairs to shave.
But I agree, he could have shaved them first...

    I have used the folowing soap's and cream's :

    - Trumper soap Rose, violet and almond => the almond dried my skin out, rose is my favorit.
    - Taylor of old bond street cream (also rose) => I like this scent and the lather, but only use it when i shave with the DE-razor, i'm a bit slow with the straigth
and my skin starts to "tickel".
    - Cella crema da barba => i only shaved with this one a couple of times, love the scent, but i could not get a nice thick lather with it yet (could be me).
    - Proraso cream (the green one) => love it, the scent and the lather are great, nice fresh feeling after the shave.
    - Baume.be => great thick lather, does not dry out fast, but not my favorite scent and a bit to soft for me

I like to diversify the soap and cream, currently I use all of them exept the trumper rose and almond.

As for the aftershave's i have a lot less experience, back in my mach3 days I used Garnier after-sun (works good).
Then i used some cream from mylene. Now i'm verry happy with the baume.be cream.
I would likt to try a new one, but can't make out which one to choose...

    Thank's for the essenza-tip.

    Dieter,

Since you try to diversify, you should try:
    - Castle Forbes
    - Martin de Candre
    - Esbjerg shaving cream (not the soap, the cream, the aftershave stuff is also pretty good)
    - Penhaligon's Blennheim Bouquet (cream, not the soap)

All of these, for me, perform better technically than the one's you've mentioned, except perhaps the conditioning effect where I consider baume.be to be quite good.

Know what ? Send me your adress, and I'll send you a sample.

    Cheers,
    Wim
