Default Trying Proraso it's drying out quickly

    Hey guys,

I am trying out Proraso's shaving cream and I am finding that it is drying out very quickly. From what I hear on this forum it's a great soap so I am sure it's me and not the soap. I have tried lathering it in a bowl, hand, and face. All seem to dry very quickly and flake off in a powder. I know that I can add water but even if I add a tiny little dab, it seems to get to watery.

    Any and all tips welcome!

try to use slightly cooler water.
My guess is that that will help somewhat

Proraso is a water lover. You can add a lot more water to it than you thing you can and be fine.

What I do is soak my brush ether in mug or running it under the faucet I then take it right out of the water and into the tub of Proraso and start loading for about 30 secs. I then wet my face and face lather. That should keep it pretty wet. If not then I add a little more water to the brush.

Pretty much what both guys have said. Water evaporates, the hotter the water, the quicker it evaporates. Using more water, and a bit cooler should help the water stick around longer.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I just started using Proraso soap and was having the same problem. Turns out I wasn't using near enough water... I got out a mug and reloaded on the Proraso for about 30 secs, then brought it over to the mug and kept whipping and whipping... Added a bit of water here and there as a I whipped and eventually I had a really nice foamy lather. Worked much better than my initial attempt!

i find the cream needs a lot more water then the soap too!!! With the soap I can get a great lather with just a brush full of water but the cream I use almost 2 brushes of water to a wallnut sized serving of cream and it fills my mug up! what i started doing was put the cream in my mug, wet my brush shake the water into the mug, wet it again and then start my lather, some times ill have to add a bit more water too it if i find its not poofing up

You could add glycerin. I love proraso but I add a small squirt of glycerin in the bottom of the bowl. And use with my other creams as well.
