Thanked: 25Found my new cream!
Its a bit of a Franken-cream. I took a puck of VDH Deluxe, grated it up and melted it down. I mixed in a grated up puck of Williams along with about 2-3 tablespoons of Every Man Jack Signature Mint cream and probably 1-1.5 teaspoon(s) of glycerine. I mixed it all up really well and pressed it down into a soup mug then let it harden.
It smells really good actually. I was worried that the combination of the two soaps might smell pretty rough, but its really quite pleasant. The soap is now not so much of a solid, but it feels more spongy. I'm assuming that its because of the cream and glycerine as well as the extra aeration that grating and mixing and all that caused.
It lathers like a dream! I get just as good of lathers as I did when I was just using Williams, EMJ and glycerine and mixing them in a bowl. In fact I get a bit of a slicker lather due to the added glycerine of the VDH soap. This way also saves me time because I can just load up my brush and face lather instead of having to mix all the parts and go to the bowl to build my lather. Plus it only costs about $4 to make a bowl that would last about 3 months or so, hopefully, maybe even longer.
I think I'll call it "Jack Van Der Williams". Haha

Sounds like a winner, glad your happy with it.
I grate my Williams & VDH, but I don't melt them.
I'm not much for either, but have several stored away.

Thanked: 25I've always been a fan of Williams. VDH always seemed to go faster than the Williams in terms of overall longevity. I would run through a puck of VDH in about 6 weeks whereas with the Williams at 6 weeks I still have about half the puck left. I was honestly looking for a way to mix all the products that I use so travel with it would be easier. This, at least for the time being, seems to be a nice winner.
