    Default Esbjerg shaving cream sensitive

I live in the Akron, OH area and recently stopped by Imperial Shaving to pick up some supplies and purchased the Esbjerg sensitive shaving cream at the recommendation of Don. I tried lathering it this morning with my Simpson "chubby" best badger brush in my scuttle and had some trouble whipping up a thick lather. Never had this problem with any of my other creams so I was just wondering if anyone else using this cream has any tips or have experienced the same thing. Thanks!

errr ... no. Works just fine for me !

edit: it is a fairly hard cream, maybe before you do your preparation you can put a couple of drops of water on the cream to soften it up, the same way as you would do with a hard soap.

Resurrect and rise long dead thread - I command you!

Just tried the stuff for the first time - just doesn't lather - several attempts and it's basically a dud.

Makes me think that this is something that one applies with the hand on the face, like a face cream, rather than scuttle and try and lather it up...no joy after several attempts, which given it's glycerin content was surprising!

Wife will get another nice soap to do her legs with....

Don't know what the problem is guys as I am getting thick paste lather that just plasters on and has a nice glide.

I am loading up the brush pretty good after shaking out the water and then just adding a dab of water at a time till it gets where I want it.

    Yo!!

    Oops!!

Sorry guys, didn't see the sensitive till just now. That is a different soap that takes some practice to get right. Definitely different than the other Esbjerg Soaps/Creams.

Careful lads which shaving cream you choose. In 2013, Nwill13 posted 1 time about the Esbjerg cream. It was his first and last post. Then he disappeared!

I don't have any problems with this cream. I love it, I use Esbjerg Verbena, a great very moisturizing lather. I tend to use stiffer brushes this days I always prefer them and get good results with both face and bowl lather. I sometimes lather it in my palm and that works nice too. Good performer and lovely scent.

Hey - that's good to know. I have the Esbjerg Verbena for Sensitive Skin, and after three separate attempts to get a god lather with up - the best I could get was as if someone had taken some Nivea Cream, added a couple of drops of water, and whipped it up in the Scuttle. Never had this experience before...interesting.

Stuff is sensational on the face though, very moisturizing, but again, like shaving with a Nivea type cream.

Exactly! Maybe it's an issue with water hardness? In any case, I don't have troubles making a decent lather. The only thing: you do need quite a lot compared to other creams.
